Which jurisdictions and processes are covered?

The seeded set covers approximately 20 manufacturing geographies — including China (Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu), Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Türkiye, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States — and five broad process families that capture roughly 85% of consumer manufactured goods: CNC machining (multi-metal), injection moulding (thermoplastics), PCB SMT assembly, sheet metal fabrication and stamping, and textile cut-and-sew. The roadmap extends to every relevant manufacturing geography and process.

What live data sources feed the cost stack?

Labour costs come from ILOSTAT. Electricity prices come from ENTSO-E in Europe and the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) elsewhere. Tariff schedules come from the UK Trade Tariff, EU TARIC, and US HTS. Freight uses the Drewry World Container Index, the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI), and the Freightos Baltic Index (FBX). Every feed is rate-limited to its public quota, refreshed on a documented cadence, and exposed through /v1/manufacture/sources/health so users can see freshness before relying on a recommendation.

When does the manufacturing tool ship?

The underlying data foundation is live now: nine collectors continuously refresh labour, electricity, tariff, and freight feeds against documented cadences (feed status at /v1/manufacture/sources/health). The cost engine (Phase 1.3) and Quick Checker UI (Phase 1.4) are in build and launch with the Pro plan. Will the tool model CBAM exposure?

Yes. The roadmap covers CBAM modelling for in-scope goods — cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. The planned approach computes origin grid emissions intensity from ENTSO-E and country-level factors, multiplies by the current CBAM certificate price, and projects forward to expected import date. Origin-swap modelling will show the landed-cost delta of shifting production to a lower-carbon jurisdiction.
